How to Assemble Your Garden Shed Part 2: Building the Back Panel
Date Posted:18 December 2017
Building the Back Panel
Using your assembly instructions, identify the back wall sheets. Lay them down on your work area, overlapping the sheets at the first rib of each adjoining sheet.
Before you fasten the sheets, get your middle points even by measuring 600mm in from the top of the sheet, and mark the screw position. Do the same from the bottom.
Fasten the sheets together using the self-tapping screws provided on the screw positions that you’ve marked.
Identify the U-channels marked on your assembly instructions. All U-channels have a high side and a low side. With the high side of the channel on the inside of your sheets, slide the channel onto the joined sheets. Work your way along until all sheeting is inside the channel.
Align the channel at the end of the panel, and use another self-tapping screw to secure the first rib from the end.
Ensure the far end of the panel ends flush with the channel. If it falls a little bit short or extends out of the channel, it may need to be lightly pulled (stretched) or pushed (squashed) into the channel. Some movement in sheeting width is normal.
Secure the channel in place with another self-tapping screw, then continue to screw at every second rib.
Do this same process with the other U-channel.
And you’re done! Place the completed panel assembly to one side, and we’ll now discuss Putting the Side Panels Together.
